TOWN OF WALDO – NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC
Waldo residents:
On Monday, April 7th, there will be a public hearing from 5pm – 5:30pm at Town Hall regarding the following article, which will be voted on by Waldo residents whom are registered to vote on Monday, April 21st:
Article: Do you favor filing a petition for withdrawal with the board of directors of regional school unit 3 and with the Commissioner of Education, authorizing the withdrawal committee to expend up to $10,000 in legal fees (money which is already available for such in town appropriated legal funds) and authorizing the select persons to issue notes in the name of Waldo or otherwise pledge the credit of Waldo in an amount not to exceed $10,000.
Please Note: Filing a petition for withdrawal does not equal a vote to withdraw. Such vote would not take place until a withdrawal agreement had been negotiated with RSU 3 and a reorg agreement with RSU 71, which would be reviewed by Waldo voters prior to any vote. A vote to withdraw would occur by October or November at the earliest. The process to investigate withdrawing or changing school district is a State statuary process. The article and steps outlined above are required in such.
